Managing Images & Media in Your Posts

Learn how to change cover thumbnails on published posts, insert inline photos between article sections, generate AI images from prompts, and fix or replace wrong images with a single right-click.

Difficulty: Beginner

Overview & Key Takeaways

  • Replace or regenerate cover thumbnails on any post — even after publishing — from the right sidebar.
  • Upload your own photos or generate AI images inline between article paragraphs using the toolbar or right-click menu.
  • Right-click any image in the editor to regenerate it with a custom AI prompt, fixing issues like wrong angles or compositions.
  • Use custom regeneration prompts to guide the AI (e.g. "make the laptop face left", "add warmer lighting", "use a darker background").
  • All uploaded and AI-generated images are automatically optimized and stored in your workspace media library.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1

Open Any Post in the Editor

Navigate to "Posts" in your dashboard sidebar and click on any post — published, draft, or scheduled. The full editor will open with the right sidebar visible.

Published posts can be edited at any time. Changes to thumbnails and inline images take effect immediately.
2

Change the Cover Thumbnail

In the right sidebar, scroll to the "Thumbnail" section. You will see the current cover image (or a placeholder gradient). Use the "Regenerate" button to generate a new AI thumbnail, or click "Upload" to replace it with your own image file.

N Technical Deep Dive

Why Microservices Are Overengineered

Right-click the thumbnail for more options: "Regenerate with AI" (with a custom prompt), "Delete Thumbnail", or "Copy Image URL".
Recommended cover image aspect ratio is 16:9 (1200×675px) for optimal display on social media previews.
3

Regenerate a Thumbnail with a Custom AI Prompt

Right-click the thumbnail and select "Regenerate with AI". A prompt input will appear where you can describe exactly what you want — for example, "A dark terminal screen with orange accent lighting" or "Split-screen comparison with modern UI on the left". Press Enter or click Generate to create the new image.

Add instructions or visual elements on top of the prompt:

Make the laptop face left with the screen visible, darker background with warm orange lighting

tip Be specific in your prompts. Instead of "make it better", try "modern minimalist illustration with dark background, showing a developer workspace with two monitors".

4

Insert an Inline Image Between Paragraphs

Place your cursor where you want the image in the article body. Click the image icon (📷) in the editor toolbar to upload a photo from your device. The image will be inserted at the cursor position and automatically saved.

The real bottleneck isn't the framework — it's the deployment pipeline. Most teams underestimate...

You can also right-click anywhere in the editor and select "Upload Image" from the context menu.
Supported formats include JPG, PNG, WebP, and GIF.
5

Generate an AI Image Inline

Right-click in the editor where you want an image and select "Generate Image". Type a description of the image you want (e.g. "A comparison chart showing React vs Vue performance benchmarks") and press ⌘+Enter or click Generate. The AI will create and insert the image at that position.

note AI-generated inline images are created at high resolution and automatically optimized for web delivery.

6

Fix a Wrong or Inaccurate Image

If an AI-generated image has issues (wrong angle, incorrect composition, mismatched style), right-click the image directly in the editor. Select "Regenerate with AI" and provide a corrective prompt describing what should change — for example, "Flip the laptop to face the other direction" or "Make the background darker with warmer lighting".

When we tested three different deployment strategies, the performance differences were dramatic:

The regeneration replaces the image in place — your article layout and surrounding text stay exactly the same.
You can regenerate the same image as many times as needed until it looks right.
7

Delete or Replace Any Image

Right-click any image (cover thumbnail or inline) and select "Delete Image" to remove it entirely. To replace it, simply delete and then upload or generate a new one in the same position.
